During his Sunday Angelus Pope Francis encourages the faithful to learn from Jesus detachment from and indifference to money power.
Pope Francis gave his traditional Urbi et Orbi Easter message on Sunday appearing from the central loggia of Saint Peters Basilica. The Holy Father encouraged the faithful to learn from Jesus detachment from and indifference to money power.
Pope Francis said, "Jesus' detachment from and indifference to money and power is a lesson for all of us. He teaches us that true wealth is not found in material possessions, but in relationships and in serving others. He teaches us that true power is not found in dominating others, but in serving them."
The Holy Father also called on the faithful to pray for peace in the world, especially in Ukraine. He said, "Let us pray for peace in the world, especially in Ukraine. Let us pray for the victims of war, for those who have lost their lives, for those who have been injured, for those who have been forced to flee their homes."
