Houston Astros Lose Bregman to Elbow Injury

Third baseman to miss at least three games

MRI shows no structural damage

Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman is likely to miss all three games of a weekend home series against the Chicago White Sox with a right elbow injury.

Bregman underwent an MRI on Friday that showed no structural damage, but the team elected not to put the veteran on the injured list for now.

Bregman missed the final two games of Houston's series against the Texas Rangers this week due to the injury, which he said began bothering him during Tuesday's game.

"It's just kind of been lingering," Bregman said. "It's not too bad, but it's enough to where I can't really swing the bat right now."

Bregman said he hopes to be back in the lineup early next week, but he will not play in Friday's series opener against the White Sox.

The Astros are already without shortstop Jeremy Pena, who is on the injured list with a thumb injury. Pena is expected to miss at least another week.

Bregman is batting .244 with 10 home runs and 44 RBIs this season.

The Astros have won four of their last five games and are 25-21 this season.
